Film: The Shining by Stanley Kubrick
When watching 'The Shining' I was really inspired by the Music, created by Wendy Carlos and Rachel Elkind. The piece of music that had a huge impact on me was the opening scene. It is such a simple sound, yet the tone and the notes create this increasing feeling of dread, so much that it actually made me feel sick.
To accompany my installation I am looking for a sound that is both subtle but makes a huge impact on the viewer. My installation is meant to be a glimpse into the bleak future that we could be facing if we don't turn things around. I want the viewer to be scared at the reality of what our future could be, it is a warning.

Live Stream: Porthcawl Seafront
This video is from a screen recording that I took when watching the live stream webcam on the seafront of Porthcawl. This live stream was recorded on 9th February 2020 during Storm Ciara, labelled Britain's 'storm of the century'. The coast of South Wales was not too badly affected by the storm compared to other parts of Wales, with many homes damaged and roads closed due to flooding, just from the huge amount rainfall. The reality is that storms such as Storm Ciara could become much more common as climate change continues to increase, causing destruction across the United Kingdom. These events have changed the way that I look at my sculptures as I now see them as ruins that have been flooded and underwater for a long period of time.
Video: Climate Liars by Adam Crockett
Adam Crockett's video 'Climate Liars' addresses the political and economic side of climate change and how companies who rely on oil extraction etc. are deceptive about how much they are damaging our planet, placing the blame on the rest of the population.
Crockett's video aims to raise awareness of these issues which resonate with the issues that I aim to address in my practice, from showing people what our future could look like to the way that small towns and communities are already suffering to the hands of huge corporate businesses.

John Hillcoat's film tells the story of a family trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world, having to scavenge for food and and defend themselves from the gangs who try to control this world.
There were certain scenes in this film that completely resonated on a visual level with my own artistic practice, such as the grey landscape covered in burnt-out buildings and remnants of a past life. Showing that the only evidence of human life will be the buildings that we once inhabited and endless amounts of waste.
